Adventure & Sports Activities for Children
• Mt Gabriel and the tunnels: after the minibus drop off we hike up to the top, usually cross country but for smaller or tired kids there are easier options. At the top – are they golf balls, are they soccer balls – join us to find out! Can you see where you live from the summit? And the tunnels? Wow – bring a torch!
• The fabulous new orienteering map of the community ground at Ballydehob is the perfect resource for introducing orienteering. We can run all kinds of orienteering activities and games to suit all ages. And with an ex-international orienteer who better to show you.
• Long Island by ferry! Sometimes we bring the bikes. But bring some sausages / burgers or what ever takes your fancy for the beach BBQ.
• Adventure challenge: ah – the infamous ‘Jungle Marsh’. Dare you go for that final welly sucking challenge. But the river washes all the muck away at the end before the mums and dads arrive!
• Slacklining: find the perfect trees or posts and we can spend hours trying (and failing) to balance and walk unaided on the slackline. Check out our slackline youtube video for what can be done.
• Cruagh Bay and its dead-end almost car-free road is perfect for that easy cycle. Then there is Horseshoe Bay for another great picnic spot. Dip your toes into the glorious Atlantic water. Blackberry picking for the later August campers.
• Ballydehob is the perfect spot for tennis, basketball, boxercise, parachute games, and a wonderful hall for those rare wet days (believe it or not we only use the hall once or twice each summer)!

• Cnoc Bui (Knockboy) is the highest mountain in Co.Cork (703m). We get dropped off at the Priest’s Leap after a stunning drive up the hidden valley for a great hike to the summit. Mountain lakes, rivers, bog cotton; lizards and frogs if we are lucky on warm sunny days. The best lakeside picnic.
• Glengarriff woods for great orienteering along the River Walk. Perfect trees for the slackline and we can spend hours trying (and failing) to balance and walk unaided on it. Check out our slackline youtube video for what can be done.
